Carmen has been volunteering in the Café at The Eric Liddell Community for nearly a year. She started volunteering because “I think I just like the idea of the community aspect of it. I was quite new to Edinburgh and I wanted to become part of the community myself and it was a great opportunity to help people as well.”

Carmen enjoys getting to know the customers learning about their lives and being a friend to them. She especially likes to meet people’s dogs and babies.

Carmen says that volunteering has made her more confident, she thinks that volunteering is important because “Centres like this cannot happen without volunteers. There is so much that couldn’t happen without volunteers, and it is such a good way to help our local community.”

We agree! And we are so happy to have Carmen helping us here at The Eric Liddell Community.
