The Eric Liddell 100 and partners came together at the historic Melrose 7s tournament on Saturday, with men’s and women’s teams putting in gallant performances.
The Eric Liddell 100 Men’s team faced an unlucky draw and were beaten by the eventual winners of the tournament, Shogun Rugby, 19-7.
The Women’s team also faced stiff competition, losing 28-17 against the Lionesses and 24-10 to Hammerhead 7s.
Well done to all of those that were involved, and to Shogun Rugby who won both competitions.
We’d like to thank Scottish Rugby and Edinburgh University for helping to make this possible, for putting together and supporting the teams. Thanks especially to the players, coaches and physios for putting in such strong performances against tough teams and in some torrential rain showers!
Thanks also to BlackRock, our kit sponsors. The strips included the number ‘451’ on the back, a nod to Eric’s Olympic number worn in the 1924 Olympics. Partners from Blackrock came along and supported our teams on the day, including ex-Scotland international David Denton who works for Blackrock and gave the teams some post-match support!
A massive thank you to Melrose 7’s as well for letting us get involved and continue to share the Eric Liddell 100 project on such a big stage.
