The Eric Liddell Community, an Edinburgh based-charity which provides support for people living with dementia, their carers and local community groups, is among one of sixteen charities to be awarded a significant donation from the Queensberry House Trust.

The funding of £20,000 to The Community has been provided by the Queensberry House Trust’s new anniversary grant: the 25th Anniversary Awards in 2022. This anniversary grants programme was designed to create a lasting impact for both current beneficiaries and future generations.

The funding to The Community will help the charity to expand its caring services further into the community, including developing and growing its intergenerational work across its programmes, and expanding the work they have started with local schools and universities.

Queensberry House Trust Anniversary Grant Subcommittee chair, Keith Burdon, said:

“We were overwhelmed, and delighted, with the response to our 25th Anniversary Awards project. It was a real challenge to come up with a shortlist to visit, given the strength of all applications. We were looking for projects specific to our objectives, where we could make a material difference and create lasting impact. We very much hope that the successful, and unsuccessful, applicants will stay in touch through our website as we re-start our regular 6 monthly grant funding rounds in 2023.”

John MacMillan, CEO of The Eric Liddell Community said:

“I was delighted to receive the great news that from almost 70 applications, the Queensberry House Trust very kindly supported our application. Due to the current cost of living crisis, our clients and the local community rely on our support more than ever. This donation will make a real difference and it will help support our mission of bringing people together in their local community to improve health and wellbeing and have a positive impact on their lives.”
